185 KICKING BEAR & SHORT BULL Minneconjou and Brule Sioux, Ghost Dance Leaders.
On October 9, 1890 Kicking Bear and Short Bull brought the religion of the Paiute Messiah, Wovoka to the Sioux reservations. The Ghost Dance movement envisioned the return of the buffalo to the prairie, the disappearance of the whiteman, the rebirth of the old ways of the Sioux and of Indians long-dead.
