In addition to being the Grand Nephew of Emperor Napoleon I, Prince Roland was recognized for his fine protraits of North American Indians. In 1883 he photographed the Indian representatives at the North American Indians Colonial Exposition in Amsterdam, and in 1887 at the Jardin d’ Acclimation Exposition in Paris. by 1906 his collection titled, Peaux Rouges, included over 7000 negatives.
